11 May 2025 saw the inaugural Te Arawhata Golf Tournament take place at the local Mormal Golf Club. As part of a partnership which is already proving fruitful, Club Director Adam Jones organised the tournament, with green fee proceeds going towards the New Zealand Liberation Museum. A total of 116 players participated in the competition — a record for a fundraising event at the Mormal Golf Club!

The tournament took place over 18-holes and under bright blue Spring skies. Another Northern institution, the Paix Dieu brewery, came to the party as the event’s chief sponsor. An impressive prize pool was rounded out with Te Arawhata entry tickets and merchandise.
Following a brilliant day under the sun, Elizabeth Wratislav, Te Arawhata’s director and admitted golf agnostic, closed the event with a thank you speech.
“The New Zealand Liberation Museum – Te Arawhata is immensely grateful to the Mormal Golf Club for hosting this fantastic event. For so many of the local community to come out in support of the Museum and a day in the sun is inspiring, and we hope to continue working with this brilliant club long into the future.”
