Nuit des Musées 2026

France’s annual “Night of the Museums” is an important date at Te Arawhata.  It is a chance for our locals to visit their Museum after dark and discover the Kiwi-Quercitain connection from another angle.

This year, Te Arawhata welcomed French author Serge Legrand-Vall to hold two talks on his new novel, Les Eaux Dangereuses.  Based in New Zealand, the story centres around characters searching for identity – one French, one Marquesan and one New Zealander.

Legrand-Vall weaves their journeys together with vivid descriptions of the sea, forests and cities of Aotearoa, providing a view into the country that many French readers will never have been exposed to.

The interest in this new perspective was evident from the number of questions posed by attendees.  Legrand-Vall shared his experiences from this reconnaissance trip to New Zealand and how in such a short period of time, he felt so deeply connected to a country so far from his home.

Les Eaux Dangereuses is now available in the Te Arawhata gift shop.
