On Sunday 10th November, the All Blacks XV took on Georgia in Montpellier. This test match took place as part of the partnership between New Zealand Rugby and Altrad, whose headquarters are located in the town. Over 14,000 people attended the game on this warm Sunday afternoon and witnessed a convincing win for the Kiwis.
“We had an amazing opportunity, the day before Remembrance Day, to share the story of the New Zealand soldiers and to present Te Arawhata, despite being hundreds of kilometres away from Le Quesnoy. People were really curious about this unique story – very few of them knew about the involvement of New Zealand in the war”, said Thomas Auger, Te Arawhata marketing consultant.
Thomas had the chance to meet with Mark Robinson, CEO of New Zealand Rugby and catch up with Mike Moehau, NZR representative for the UK, who was in Le Quesnoy back in February for the inauguration of our All Blacks bench. He also met with former All Black captain Sean Fitzpatrick to discuss the importance of WWI for Kiwis and the involvement of the All Blacks in the war.
A huge thank to the people at Montpellier Hérault Rugby and Altrad for the opportunity to promote Te Arawhata.
