Works continue on Le Quesnoy’s newest public park

The works to convert Te Arawhata’s private back garden into a public memorial park continue despite the intense heat Europe has experienced in May and June.

To combat the heatwave, landscapers have been onsite from 6 am until 1:30 pm, when the temperatures soar to unbearable heights.

This shift has already completely changed the space behind the Museum: derelict maisonnettes have been removed, dozens of cubic metres of land added, and pathways and gardens have started to take shape.

One aspect of the works which is attracting the attention of visitors is the round platform of cobblestones protruding away from the Museum.

This area is designed to support a memorial wall and sculpture.  If you are interested in supporting this project, please get in touch or click here to learn more about donating.

The park is set to open in September.  We look forward to seeing Quercitains and visitors to Le Quesnoy making use of this special place.
